Assyrian people

Hi, you moved the article some time age to the current name, though no correct poll had been made and no actual consensus had been reached. After the move, there was a new discussion and poll, where there was a real consensus between all parties, regarding to move the article to a compromised title, as can be seen at the talkpage; Talk:Assyrian_people#properly_formatted_opinion_poll_on_article_title. I'm coming to you with this, since you were the one who made the hasty move to the current misleading title. Greets, The TriZ (talk) 15:35, 11 June 2009 (UTC)

I see no such consensus. There was a discussion between Iraqi, Malik Danno, and yourself that produced no fruitful agreement, and a discussion between Yannismarou and dab that wasn't directly related to the article title, and likewise unproductive. Most of the editors who took part in the move request were not involved with this discussion, so it cannot be said to represent much of anything. Furthermore, the request that I closed was filed and closed in accordance with the procedure at WP:RM. There certainly was a poll (which lasted for a week, when the standard length of requests was 5 days), the vast majority of the participants of said poll supported the move. I have stated repeatedly in relation to this that consensus =! unanimity. Lastly, I have no shred of interest in what the title of the article is, I came to the page because there was the request at WP:RM, nothing more. I have no intention of becoming involved any further with the article, and I have no obligation to do anything in regards to the title. Regards, Parsecboy (talk) 02:45, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Please read the discussion between Dab and Yannismarou, the first poll that resulted in you moving the article was misleading and wrongly formatted, the second poll and discussion showed that there was no consensus of moving the article and therefore the article should not have been moved. You're missing the point; asking dad after mom told you that you can't go to your friend's house doesn't work. Only a handful of people took part in the second poll, and the majority of those who participated in the first poll were not informed of the second. I'm sorry, I believe you are wrong here. The first poll mainly consisted of partisan users, just check the user pages. And surely outside parties were included in the second, as you can see, both parties voted for a comprimised title (myself, Gabr-el and Benne) and the outside party including Dab. Dab is not an outside party; he's been involved with the article for quite some time. So have Benne and Gabr-el. Yeah, the only problem is that I'll largely be doing the work by myself. At least you and Tom have other editors involved with Operation Majestic Titan. Yeah, I'm glad I've been working on these articles for so long, because now that's all the easier my honors thesis will be. And by the time I get to my dissertation, maybe the HSF FT will be done! I joined Majestic Titan today; I don't think I'll be able to do any articles by myself (unless I go buy some more books, of course), but I can provide plenty of logistical support. Lol, that's hilarious. I saw the "Hello, {{BASEPAGENAME}}..." and thought "what the?" Yeah, the honeymoon was great, we went to Disney down in Florida for 5 days, and then we went out to Titusville for some other stuff; we saw one of the shuttles on the launch pad at Kennedy, found a practically abandoned beach to hang out on, and an airboat ride in a small river. A pretty good time all around.

Nah, it was raining on and off all morning, and that apparently freaks the manatees out, so we couldn't get close to them :( (who would have thought rain would bother something that was already completely wet?)

All I know is that my best man (and former roommate in the Army) told me I was irreplaceable (I guess his current roommates are kinda gross—one doesn't do much laundry and the other eats in a disgusting manner). I just assumed it was the same on here. I mean, who's going to write articles on the German Navy if I up and died?

Non-free image question

Hello! Here I am to annoy you again :) I need to know something about this image. It's non-free and its terms of use mention only the article about King Edward's Chair. However, the image would be very useful for the article about coronation (perhaps even as lead image). Is it alright to add the image to the article about coronation? Hi again :) Unfortunately, I don't think the image could be used in the coronation article. The problem lies in the "replaceable" qualification for the use of a "fair use" image. Since the article isn't about the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II but the general act of coronation, any other image of any act of coronation (of which there are a number in the public domain) would qualify to replace it. To be honest, I don't think it even qualifies for fair use in the article it's currently being used (for the same reason—there are two PD images of the chair already in the article). I think the only article for which it would possibly qualify as fair use is Coronation of Elizabeth II, which is not a current article. Parsecboy's favorite talk page stalker here. :) That move was made by him in response to this request at WP:RM, which did state that it was salted. Looking at the previously deleted versions, I would agree that it probably shouldn't have been moved, but speedy deleted instead. You just deleted this article as an A7, when the template clearly indicates that schools are exempt from this criteria. Usually when I run across such an article, I try to determine the parent school district and redirect it there, I was just starting to try and figure it out (the article didn't give much to go on) when it disappeared! thanks for restoring, I'll try to figure out a good redirect target. Question about Cage Rattle page you deleted

I was curious as to why you deleted the Cage Rattle wiki that I was starting? You deleted it as advertising but there are wikis here for purevolume, allmusic, myspace, and other social networks/websites as well. There were two major problems with the article you had created. The first was that it was written like an advertisement—"We have expanded our media to include exclusive backstage footage, tour diaries, live audio and video interviews, and personalized acoustic sets." is not encyclopedic in the least. Second, there was no indication why your website is more important than the hundreds of other social networking sites. More directly, there was nothing to indicate why the website meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines, specifically the guideline that governs websites. If you can rewrite the article to satisfy both of the requirements I mentioned above (encyclopedic tone/non-advertising and a demonstration of notability), then the article can most likely stay on Wikipedia. Hayani paintings

That it's a photo of the painting and not a scan is irrelevant; it's a reproduction of a copyrighted work. First, you claim that the images can be reproduced as long as it's for non-commercial use. The licenses under which Wikipedia is licensed, the GDFL and CC licenses explicitly allow commercial use. Therefore, the images can't be used anywhere in any Wikimedia project, be it Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, or elsewhere. Parsecboy (talk) 21:23, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

I thought about it briefly during the last election, but I wasn't really sure what coordinators do besides close peer and A-class reviews. To be brutally honest, we usually do...nothing :) Its not so much by design as by happenstance; usually when the coordinators get involved its either to close reviews (as you stated) or to watch the children bicker on a talk page over whose doing what to whose edits, and then when both parties grow tired of verbally insulting each other we say to both parties "can we all just get along?" Its actually quite easy, the only hard work such as it exists is discussing matters related to the project on the coordinator talk page, as that can require some serious thought about the right course of action. More diesels

Thanks! Groner's states, in reference to the MAN 6-cylinder, "this was fitted later, and only to Grosser Kurfurst and Markgraf. Do you have a source that states otherwise? It seems odd that Groner seemingly has confusion with the diesel engines. Parsecboy (talk) 20:19, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

My best source on that stuff is usually the Breyer book. I'll track it down and get back to you on that. Speaking of Groner, he has a habit of referring to boilers in these ships as "Marine-type" rather than Schulz-Thornycroft. "Marine-type" isn't wrong, but it seems a little less helpful that Schulz-Thornycroft. I'd sort of like to change that, but what's your take? Orpy15 (talk) 20:39, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Well, Breyer says "The 1911 plan envisaged first for all four ships, then only for Grosser Kurfurst and Markgraf, one MAN six-cylinder two-stroke diesel engine each producing 12 000 hp and producing a cruising speed of 12 knots; it did not prove possible to fit these engines." Preston is a little more direct. He says, that it was originally intended to equip the ships with a steam/diesel combination as in Prinzregent Luitpold, "but that fiasco forced designers to revert to conventional three-shaft steam machinery."

In the specifications section, does Groner actually give diesel related performance figures for Markgraf and Grosser Kurfurst? My recollection is he only did that for Prinzregent Luitpold and Sachsen. Best regards. Orpy15 (talk) 18:32, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

All it says for the diesel is "Its specification was: 12,000shp, 150rpm, 12kts (one 3-bladed screw, 4.8m diameter). I'd be willing to bet that Groner's records left off at the decision to fit only Markgraf and Grosser Kurfurst with the diesels, and that anything further was lost, perhaps during WWII. Hi, Mimi, and yes, I remember that. The best way to go in this situation is to just block the IPs adding the posts, since they don't seem to be trying to legitimately discuss anything. I blocked the second IP that was edit-warring on the talk page, and the first was blocked by another admin. Let me know if the user returns under a different IP, and I can block that as well.
