Beyonce Discography

Hello blue, You have no comments. I hope it is okay to write to you.

  1. Could you please add total sales of her cds to the studio albums table? I see the totals of 11mill, 6mill,5mill in the lead. Other discography pages have the totals in the table. I think it should be in the table for bk as well to keep format.
  2. Also is there a way to bold the line that separates the albums in the singles table? In the studio albums section it is easy to read, but in the singles section, it isnt.

Thanks ! 64.26.99.120 (talk) 21:24, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mariah's sales

I will continue to undue the edit. If you actually read the sources, the first one IS from her official record label and it say 200 million albums. PhoenixPrince (talk) 21:55, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What you have stated doesn't make any sense. Just because she's not on the label anymore means they stopped keeping track of her record sales? Most of which they OWN the rights to? If that's the case then Island is only credible for providing sales for her last four albums. Her biggest selling albums are under Sony, not def jam, she only has one high selling album on that label and they're only responsible for releasing 4 of her 20 collective albums. Sony would know better than they do.

And your source is no more reliable than mine is, the only difference is that there are multiple sources backing mine and you just have the one. PhoenixPrince (talk) 01:49, 15 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

MC discography

Please stop your disruptive removal of sources and figures. You are using a source from 1998, and a source from hello magazine which is a tabloid. Ticketspecialists is more reliable and is being used on all her available sales pages.--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 20:30, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ticketspecialist has been used and accepted by many users already. A source from 1998 cannot be used as it is only halfway through her career.--Petergriffin9901 (talk) 23:40, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. When you make a change to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Madonna (entertainer). It is most essential that you use edit summary as this helps other editors to understand what you are doing and that its not a vandalism act. --Legolas (talk2me) 09:54, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Best-selling albums in Australia

I removed it because in the Sidney Morning website the list is in order by sale and not by year of the certifications. It's true, Come On Over was certified 15x Platinum in 2000 and Thriller in early/mid 2009, but from 2000, Come On Over wasn't in chart. http://australian-charts.com/showitem.asp?interpret=Shania+Twain&titel=Come+On+Over&cat=a Thriller returned in the chart also after the certification http://australian-charts.com/showitem.asp?interpret=Michael+Jackson&titel=Thriller+25&cat=a and now it's in the Top Catalogue Albums http://www.ariacharts.com.au/pages/charts_display_catalogue_album.asp?chart=1X50 I think that now Thriller sold more than Come On Over. Mariah Carey albums discography

Hello, I recently reverted all your edits to MC albums disc, I can see you put alot of work into it which was good but there were issues with it. First of you added sales for her debut album, which are incorrect because the album was released a year before SoundScan began tracking data, so nobody knows exactly how many copies it sold. Also the lead section you removed lots of valid information and added uneeded information leaving the lead looking messy and unsourced. There is a sandbox feature for you to test your edits. Thank you. Jayy008 (talk) 13:42, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Awards received by Madonna

Hello, there are problems with your edit. Most of it is opinionated and unsourced. Recognized as Queen of Pop, by who? thats an opinionated claim, whether by you or any magazine. Its also Wikipedia Peacockery. Claims like The most successful female of all-time is untrue, and not specific. What does successful mean? Most money, album sales, concert sales, singles? Therefore its problematic and removed. Holds 5 Guinness Record citations, for a claim like that you need a source from the Guinness website, theres no way to know if thats true. Hung Up becoming the most successful single of all time, what does that mean? most single sales? Charted in most countries? Longest at Number 1? its not specific and not sourced. We can see it charted in allot of countries, but how do we know the most, and what certifying agency awarded it with that award? As you see, most of it is opinionated, and the rest is unsourced. There would be no problem if you would just provide citations for your claims.--PeterGriffinTalk 12:06, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh Your so right, there is so much to be jealous of, hehe. Trust me, Im not going to get in a fan to fan discussion over it, but there is nothing about Madonna to be jealous of, if I was a girl maybe her son (wait her BF). Secondly I removed the opinionated parts, and bits that truly need citations. the parts talking about awards won and achievements I left. If you continue to undo my changes we will have a problem. You can't just keep adding fake info.--PeterGriffinTalk 19:44, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Don't get into discussions with the user above. His contributions have been biased always. Better to ignore him. You are doing wonderful work. --Legolas (talk2me) 03:41, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That's what I am saying, just completely ignore him. If he bothers you more, report him to an admin. As for the Madonna works, thanks, I try my best. I was thinking, in terms of the recent chart related edits that you edit in Like a Virgin, could you do the same for Madonna's other studio and compilation albums? It would be a real help as eventually all of them will be promoted by me for GA. :) --Legolas (talk2me) 05:38, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sure you can develop Madonna articles for GA. Come to think of it, there's this article List of unreleased songs by Madonna. Maybe you can add references for it for making it a FL? Please let me know when you finish with the charts of the albums. Thanks again. --Legolas (talk2me) 05:55, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking, in addition to the chart updates, can you see if you can find some reviews of Madonna's tour live albums? Thanks in advance. --Legolas (talk2me) 04:17, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That's ok, you can take your time. I'm stuck up with Who's That Girl World Tour though. :( --Legolas (talk2me) 04:36, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No there isn't. Although I think if we can write a mail to Guy Oseary, Madonna's manager, we might have a chance. Anyways, since the tour performance was so similar to the respective music videos, some images from the videos can be used, by updating their rationale. --Legolas (talk2me) 04:56, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Madonna (entertainer) edit warring

Please be aware that you and Petergriffin9901 (talk · contribs) are both skating on thin ice. Both parties are engaging in an edit war and steadily on your way to breaching WP:3RR, even while discussion is taking place on the talk page which you're taking part of. Either drop the reverts or revert yourself into a block. Should I find a third and fourth revert by you or Petergriffin9901, the offending parties will be blocked for violating 3RR. — ξxplicit 05:27, 23 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello :)

Im really happy. I always wanted to have peace wiith yoou guys and be able to edit in peace and work together. I happen to like Madonna and know she has accomplished so much, so I really have no interest in pivoting two strong and successful females against each other for sales. Im really happy to bury the hatchet with you, and yes I have tried to get by my issues with legolas, which seems to have passed. I also apologize if I've ever said anything rude to you, I really didn't mean it in any way.. Good luck with our edits, and thanks! :)--PeterGriffinTalk 02:34, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. So I agree 100% about mentioning scholar reviews and mentions like on Madonnas section. However, I am having trouble finding them, and don't know where to look :(. I will take your advice and try google bbooks, that seems like a good start, thanks :).. If you guys would like, it would be great for you too contribute, you guys did a great job an madonnas!--PeterGriffinTalk 04:31, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Best-selling music artists

Hello :) So I see on this page we add the certifications for the artists album (299+ range). So I have a few problems, we have Madonna's Japanese shipments listed at 950k, but here and here you'll see that The Immaculate Collection is certified the "Million" award (1,000,000 copies) and Confessions on a Dance Floor is certified 2x Platinum (600,000 copies). That alone, not counting her other possible certifications (I haven't checked) is 1,600,000 copies, not 950K. Also, Im not sure if your aware, but certifications for many countries have changed in the past. I am not sure for specific countries, but many sales don't add up to old criterion. This being so, I was wondering how you added it up, unless you know what years they shifted and to what certification level. Thanks :).--PeterGriffinTalk 17:42, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Not Myself Tonight. Users who edit disruptively or refuse to collaborate with others may be blocked if they continue. In particular the three-revert rule states that making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block. If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the talk page to discuss controversial changes. Work towards wording and content that gains consensus among editors. If unsuccessful then do not edit war even if you believe you are right. Post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If edit warring continues, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 15:41, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you so against adding the "Human Nature" reference even though MTV has clearly sourced it? -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 15:43, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The point is MTV noted references to another of Madonna's video so how can you mention one without the other? -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 19:32, 16 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There is no policy saying that its ok to omitt one thing rather than others. But in the interest of factual verification I'm going to change the introduction to say "Both Aguilera and critics noted that the clip pays tribute to several Madonna music videos." Then in the video section it can be expanded more to include all the references. In the meantime you need to tone things down. going around leaving provactive messages like "don't lecture me" etc is bad editing practise, immature and unhelpful. Neither myself nor Candyo32 are trying to lecture you, instead we're trying to discuss what is a difference of opinion. If you are unprepared to listen to others and work together than perhaps your in the wrong place. Wikipedia is a collaborative effort, so if you could take yourself off your pedastle for a minute and consider the proposed change im putting forward it would be much appreciated. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 12:41, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Consensus

It's usually the original version, that stays until the consensus is reached. Remember, it's not to remove the information, but to change how we say it. Jayy008 (talk) 16:47, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your edits of the Mariah Carey article...

Hi Bluesatellite, I'm just writing you a little note about your recent edits to the Mariah Carey article. First, (and especially on an article currently being worked on by a lot of editors on a regular basis), please always remember to leave an accurate edit summary when you make an edit. Second, (again, especially on an article currently being worked on by a lot of editors on a regular basis - or on one that editing has been contentious on), the best route if your initial effort is reverted is to go to the article's talk page to discuss it. In this case, with discussion already ongoing, the best thing to do is to go to the talk page first, and join in on the discussion. One generally should not edit a contentious section of an article while a discussion about that section of content is ongoing. Instead, help the other editors involved come to a consensus, or bring up your points and work towards including them in the consensus reached. And in the meantime, if the article isn't in it's best possible state for a few days while discussion is ongoing, so what? I'm sure we'll all still sleep ok at night. ;-) And, it will make yours (and everyone else's) proposals in the discussion be better received. And of course, no one will be wasting time reverting each other and instead be spending that time working on coming to a consensus on how to improve the article. A win for everyone.

Anyway, that's just my friendly advice, and I hope it helps. Best, Robert ROBERTMFROMLI TALK/CNTRB 03:55, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good that you started working on this. However, I would just like you to note that the musician awards are listed cumulatively, not yearly. You can refer to the FL, List of awards and nominations received by Alicia Keys for further info regarding styling etc. Nice work dude. Ask me if you need any help. — Legolas (talk2me) 11:21, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for this. At least you got rational sense unlike the other user. Did you even see what BS he wrote about me in his profile? — Legolas (talk2me) 14:10, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I know, sigh.. I wish him well though. Btw, about the awards list, weren't there more Billboard awards? And I guess we have to add the movie nominations also, like from BAFTA, RAZZIE etc. I will leave it upto you to decide the best for it. You're always welcome for any help :) — Legolas (talk2me) 14:26, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Is it? Well my bad then :( thanks for clarifying. And researching more, I think RAZZIE's are not notable enough to be included. I mean, she is a recording artist first, and then an actress. — Legolas (talk2me) 15:20, 2 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I made some minor tweaks in ur sandbox, hope you have noticed. Keep in mind those tweaks about the online sources like MTV etc. they are formatted in that way, since you know that from time to time, bots come and revert the italicization of the online sources, hence rendering them italicized in the final reference. So to stop this bot madness once and for all, they are formatted in this way. Cheers, for the wonderful job you are doing! The "Queen of Pop" barnstar is not far! Legolas (talk2me) 06:53, 5 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Of course, just notify me once alllllllllll the awards are done. I hope you are planning to nominate it for FL after a peer review?? — Legolas (talk2me) 07:03, 5 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think we should include, most of the awards pages do include them, since Billboard kind of gives them in an award like thing nowqadays. Its better to have them now, if its frowned at FLC, we can remove it. Btw, there's also those RIAA and other certifying body awards, certifying Madonna as the best selling female artist of the rock era. — Legolas (talk2me) 07:12, 5 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Rockonthenet can be used as source, since it is an archive. IMDB cannot be used as a source, only for EL. — Legolas (talk2me) 07:30, 5 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That Sun REader's poll award does not seem to be encyclopedic and a valid award at all, since it is public voted, and tend to be fan oriented mostly. — Legolas (talk2me) 13:59, 8 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Will add it after taking a bsath. i have the book. :) — Legolas (talk2me) 07:50, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, it is not an award. Guiness is basically a statistics measurement, although a trophy is given to the winners. Btw, next time when you post on my talk page, can you make a new section? I almost lost your question as it is so many sections up. — Legolas (talk2me) 04:33, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you get time, comment here. The nominator didn't even bother to notify the project community or the concerned users, so Im not sure whether you are aware of it. — Legolas (talk2me) 06:06, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

best sellers

Why did you remove the part about Shakira in the best sellers article? It obviously needs a mention. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.145.8.29 (talk) 18:16, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Madonna album sales

  • I stated that "COADF" sold 8.5 million copies worldwide because the sources seem more accurate to that total (from her record label, Live Nation, etc.) than a source from the newspaper Chicago Sun Times that states 12 million. I just want to keep it more accurate, that's all, so I hope you agree with me.ARMOR89 (talk) 00:42, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You did a poo-poo did ya know? The template of the awards page only lists those first 14 awards, do you know why? — Legolas (talk2me) 12:42, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That's fine. But I think existing FLs on awards are fine with the non-alphabetical arrangement. — Legolas (talk2me) 04:44, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The lead is such a pain in the ass, for the awards. By hte way, what was that IP doing on your sandbox? Was that you? — Legolas (talk2me) 04:33, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Congrats on starting work on teh filmography. You are kinda evolving quickly like Her Madgesty herself. :P Now that I have some time, I will do the necessary things that need to be done for the Awards list. — Legolas (talk2me) 07:44, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Beyonce Articles

Hi, i am Jivesh. I usually edit Beyonce related articles. It is the first time i am posting on your talk-page. Actually, i wanted to ask you if you could help me fix Beyonce awards and nominations article? Please, i would be very happy to work with you. You really do an amazing job on music-related articles here on Wikipedia. Please reply me on my talk-page. Jivesh Talk2Me 06:36, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I will be sincerely very happy that you can lend me a helping hand. Do tell me when you are free to start working on it. Thank you again. And when i praised your work, i really meant it. See you very soon then, but before that i have a question... Can you have a quick look at Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) and tell me if the article looks good at first glance. I have been working on it since mid-December and trust me it was a lot of work to expand it. Please. Jivesh Talk2Me 10:32, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on List of best-selling albums worldwide. Users who edit disruptively or refuse to collaborate with others may be blocked if they continue.

In particular the three-revert rule states that:

  1. Making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block.
  2. Editors violating the rule will usually be blocked for 24 hours for a first incident.
  3. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes. Work towards wording, and content that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If edit warring continues, you may be blocked from editing without further notice.
