deletion of MJRC page

The quotation on this page were cited, or at least I thought they were. I was informed that you were the one who did the deletion. Is there any way the page can be restored? If I need to tweak it I will -- that would be easier than starting from scratch. Actually, I chastised quite a few people throughout the course of the RfC, including DG, it is just that your disruption came rather late in the day and, apparently, you didn't bother to review these earlier encounters (I note that one of DG's main opponents, Dicklyon, described my involvement as even-handed). re: Spoilers

You know, I thought that may be the case (good faith edit trying to protect everyone from spoilers), but then it hit me that if someone was going to be spoiler sensitive over The Lovely Bones, they'd have to remove 95% percent of the article, including the lead! How impossible would it be to write an extensive article about such a novel without mentioning the fact that she's dead? Oh, I get a headache just thinking about it. Er did you block this guy 72.201.50.98‎ then? Coz he did vandalise after being blocked and having received a full set of warnings in the past, and he'll probably do it again soon. In the process of organizing my User page and creating supbpages, I created a page listing my newly created pages, by mistake under User Talk instead of under User. Thanks for National Historic Landmark encouragement, tips

Daniel, thanks for your encouragement and tips. I am trying to implement the tips, e.g. by using that {{PDFlink}} format within the Adams Power Plant Transformer House article. But, there is no category of Registered Historic Landmarks in New York City, except that Alice Austen House and Firefighter (boat) now link to there, because i was editing them upon your advice. UPDATE3: All 258 of the NYS NHLs now have at least a stub article. Didn't see your note to me about saving Old Blenheim Bridge until just now, so a stub for it is already created. Please feel free to delete it and start over. I do worry that there may be some tradeoff in creating all the stubs: I see that it can preclude achieving DYK announcements which have to be in the first 5 days since creation or major development of the article. There are many interesting facts about these NYS NHLs which could merit DYK announcements. However, it also seems efficient to create them all, and then to keep modifying to make them more consistent, and developing each further (drawing on the reference sources now identified in the stubbing process). ABOUT NEW YORK STATE COVERED BRIDGES. i actually grew up knowing there were 29 covered bridges in NYS, it was a fact stated in some NYS recreation publication. Do you have any thoughts about creating an article for each one. Having gotten started with the Old Blenheim Bridge article and its rival in California, I opened up a List of covered bridges in New York State and opened a Shushan Bridge article. It's possible to include at least two external links to photos for each bridge. Are there any in your range that you would like to photograph? ABOUT HUDSON RIVER HISTORIC DISTRICT. It's fine you moved it back to that name, from Hudson River Heritage Historic District. I like that you know what is called what, with your local knowledge. The "Heritage" version is included in the NRIS system, per Elkman infobox generator. The "non-heritage" is the name given in the NHL summary. I liked the suggestion that one person made on the WP:NRHP talk page, that one should use names in the infobox that are what are used in the landmark naming, even if different from common usage and the best name for the article itself. In this case, it's ambiguous. You could put "Heritage" back into the infobox name, or not, while leaving the article named as it is now. REgards...doncram 01:07, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

IN DEFENSE OF Boston Post Road Historic District. Pleasantly woodsy doesn't sound bad. Happy to serve as basis for amusement.  :) But as I recall, the NRHP photographs linked from the article go inside several houses; the districting seemed to be about the houses more than about the road. Someone should really develop the article to describe what was NHL-level significant according to NRHP text, someday.... doncram 16:54, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

ABOUT SPLITTING NYS NHL LIST. Dmadeo has opened discussion for splitting, in the Talk:List of National Historic Landmarks in New York. You commented on my user page that splitting NYC vs. non-NYC would make sense. I think that would make sense, but might not be enough. Can you comment further on splitting by more geographic areas, perhaps, in that discussion? doncram 16:54, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

AFRICAN BURIAL GROUND and LIST OF NHLS IN NYC. I saw African Burial Ground on TV news yesterday, drafted a wikinews article about it, and an editor cleaned it up, added a photo from the artist's plan for the monument, and published the article as African burial ground in New York City dedicated as National Monument. Notice, the article includes mention that there are 110 National Historic Landmarks in New York City. I worked that it and it survived the editing, I figure because the editor could see from List of National Historic Landmarks in New York City that the 110 number was a true fact. ABOUT GENESEO HISTORIC DISTRICT. Of course it would be great if you'd post an old or new photo. This sounds like a nice one to visit. I wasn't sure why I didn't combine the info from original NRHP and from the boundary increase at the time I created the Geneseo Historic District article. I have created single infoboxes indicating boundary increase REFNUM and date in a number of other cases. But I see for this one that there is different info on architects and on architectural styles for the two parts. I think I didn't know what to do about that at the time. Just now, I edited the article to combine the two infoboxes, yet retaining the different info on architect and on architectural styles for the two sections (indicating by "original" vs. "increase" in the infobox). Ultimately, I would hope the article would get developed (by you, presumably now :) ) and the original vs. increased areas would be discussed in the article. Then, it would be an editorial decision to simplify the infobox, perhaps losing the distinction between original vs. increase area's architecture. Whew. Got that all out. Image favor

Hi Daniel. I have an image-related favor to ask of you. My adoptee has uploaded a few images under PD that I think would be more appropriately tagged as fair-use, such as game cases and nutrition bar wrappers. Stop harassing me!

Ok, every single time I use Wikipedia I get a message referring to my "last change". I had an unauthorized user on my internet who was the culprit of the supposed "vandalism". He hasn't been on my computer for a few days, and there has been no "vandalism" since then, yet I still receive this message from you every time I access Wikipedia. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. When I reverted the 747 edit, I said to a friend of mine: "Watch...there's this guy named Daniel Case who thinks Wikipedia is his own personal playground, and he gets piseed when someone dares to edit his articles. I'll revert this, and within 24 hours he'll send a insulting message, threatening to cry to the admins. You just watch."

Today, there your message was, in all its glory. "See?" I said to my friend. "Told ya."

"Why doesn't he get a friggin' life?" my friend asked, shaking his head.

"Search me," I replied. "He's like some little boy crying for attention."

"Well, don't give it to him," he said.

"Okay," I said.

Hi. Thanks for working on the Middletown article. Middletown High class of '78 here! Are you from Middletown? Move Request

The Sami Brady page has been moved to Sami Brady Roberts. The Wiki Soaps Project has it that women stay with their maiden names and someone has moved the page and I can't move it back. Could you please move it back. She will actually soon be annulled from Mr. Roberts. That's the problem we've found with moving characters as soon as they get married. Article and Infobox names for NYS NHLs and NRHPs

Hi Daniel -- You moved John Jay Homestead article to John Jay Homestead State Historical Site, which is fine as that is the site's common name, i gather. Thanks for noticing and doing that. Similar NHL articles may also need to be moved. However, I think it's best to leave the NRHP infobox name as given -- John Jay Homestead is the NHL name and it is the NRHP name. As I mentioned before, I agree with the comments on the WP:NRHP talk page about keeping the infobox name as it historically was when the site was designated (especially as that is how it is called in NHL and NRHP systems). I restored the infobox name, as I was doing other cleanup. Also, I added a new link to the SHS at NYSOPRHP and will try to do that more often. regards, doncram 00:58, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Got your message back. To let you know, I earlier moved Clermont Manor to Clermont State Historic Site, and Bennington Battlefield to Bennington Battlefield State Historic Site, to be consistent with your action on John Jay Homestead SHS. I left the infobox names as Clermont and Bennington Battlefield. Maybe i had changed Clermont's infobox name to Clermont from Clermont Manor, i don't recall for sure. Clermont is name on NHL page.

Probably is worth talking about on WP NRHP talk page. I don't see any problem with your using the PO name and the school name. See Eagle Rock Community Cultural Center, article i created including photo i took recently. Its infobox is Eagle Rock Branch Library, which is in fact the name of the current library a few blocks away. I don't see any confusion. If confusion is possible, then the writing in the text has to make it clear. Not sure how it can be addressed within the infobox itself, havent looked to your bridge example yet. Again, worth raising the knotty problems with the main talk page. Oh, another point: I kinda like having the old, retro names, e.g. call it Fort Johnson in the infobox because that was what it was really called, sometime, including at time NHL established. By the way, I am marching for a second time through all the NYS NPL sites mostly alphabetically, adding NHL dates, adding NRHP documents, and cleaning up the NRHP and NHL documentation previously put in. I am done with J's now. It's kinda boring but mesmerizing. I am hoping this work should enable self and others to do good writing, bring individual articles up to GOOD status. Having the references there is a good part of preparation. Tweaking names in infoboxes can be done then, when real amount of writing is being done, that's what i figure. Hi again. Glad you are appreciating some of my work. I like how you edited the Locust Grove (Samuel F. B. Morse House) article, indeed making it a "real" article. Great! I see that the your suggested DYK claim that this is the first Hudson Valley estate garnering NHL is indeed supported somewhat by a reference in the article. But I wonder, wouldn't it make the DYK more interesting if, in the article, you added links to other estates that have articles, perhaps added a "Other Hudson Valley Estates" section? Or maybe you could whip up a separate article on Hudson Valley Estates, where they are listed. Then readers could follow their way to other estates and it would be more rewarding for them to have clicked on the DYK. I know that we have starter articles at least for several of the estates listed in your reference. I like your getting DYKs.

Within the NYS NHLs, I am working alphabetically in the O's now, a few past "Old Main" now, but I just jumped out of order to add the NRHP registration text and photo documents to the Vassar College Observatory article. The last of 5 photographs is a neat one with the instructor Martha teaching a class to students outside with telescopes. It would make a nice illustration on the article, given the significance of the site apparently is its association with her (going on the statement in the article, which i also edited (although I haven't read the NRHP registration text or otherwise read up on the site). I don't know how to cut a photo out of a PDF, besides printing it and scanning the printed copy. I'd be happy if you would let me know if you figured out such an approach, as there are many neat photos in these NRHP documents.

I take note of your tips about local town names and about checking local RHP lists. In fact, I edited your comments over into a Recipe article that I have been drafting. "Recipe for editing NRHP articles, especially ones that are NHLs" that I have been drafting, within Talk:List of National Historic Landmarks in New York. Can you take a look at that draft? RESPONDING: My source that it was Andrew Jackson Downing who did the landscaping at Springside (Matthew Vassar Estate) is the NRHP Inventory/Nomination written in 1974 by James Dillon at the NPS, in PDF linked in the article. Would be interesting to hear if that is not correct, in terms of evaluating that type of source. I was careful per your previous remarks to try to check about which Poughkeepsie (city or town) it was in and based my guess on its centralish location, sounds like i got it right, whew.

I've finished my pass through the NYS NHL articles, adding NRHP Inventory/Nomination documents and photos links where available.

Glad you are on the photographing trail, sounds like a great family activity. I do look forward to seeing your uploads. If you announce them in the "new photos" box on the WPNRHP page, that will catch my eye. Glad you have the energy to edit that Delaware & Hudson canal material over from the railroad article, too. I am not at all clear on how to properly indicate when a big chunk of material is moved from another article (separating the material from its edit history in the old article). Thank you for your criticism of the DYK nomination for Seventeenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China. I've offered a response at Template talk:Did you know, where I accuse you of "apparent ignorance". I think you deserve a little justification for that... Your comment illustrated why WP needs an article on the Congress - in fact a series of articles. Doesn't the most populous country in the world, and it's 3rd largest economy, rate one-tenth of the coverage available at Template:United States presidential election, 2008 navigation? I'm sure that your edit was in good faith, and it's spurred me to offer a reformulated hook. However, I'd deplore the notion that DYK is about "unusual" facts, or a trivia summary ("The hook should refer to established facts that are not likely to change, and should be relevant for more than just novelty or newness." - WP:DYK). User:Bongwarriorhas accused me of vandalism for following MOS and removing bad links from Template:Pittsburgh_Steelers_roster. He refers me to WP:TWINKLE which makes no sense as removing redlinks is not vandalism. He also lays claim to "owning" the Pittsburgh Steelers page and has that TW link on and if you edit the page it reverts all edits using TW. I certainly won't violate the 3R rule but I find this odd. Hi Daniel, these claims are completely false. You can see all my dealings with this user on my talk page and in the history of Template:Pittsburgh Steelers roster. I did not accuse this user of vandalism, or claim to "own" the Steelers article. And then sent me to a twinkie template that accuses people that their edits are vandalism. Twinkle is a set of JavaScripts that gives registered users several new options to assist them in common Wikipedia maintenance tasks and to help them deal with acts of vandalism. It provides users three types of rollback functions and includes a full library of speedy deletion functions, user warnings, pseudoautomagical reporting of vandals, and much more. I'm having a little trouble with a user named Bamadude, who is making outragiously untrue claims on my talk page and is convinced that myself and fellow users Croctotheface and Clarityfiend (whom I had never heard of before this issue) are conspiratating against him. I am getting fed up, and I don't know how to deal with him. Is there some way to make it so that Bamatude can't post on my talk page, or something? I'm sorry that this person is upset and I hope to calm them down, but actually, I'm the victim here as the user who's complaining is actually the one who started this whole mess by using lies on a public Talk page to back up their erroneous edits and putting down & reverting my factual edits with personal attacks, so I disproved the user's lies point-by-point to lay out my case and provided plenty of factual evidence for my own edits, which is now the accepted version by everyone involved. The problem is that 2 other users rushed to this user's rescue as they were unhappy with my methods, so then I was fighting 2 other people who then used trickery by teaming up to revert my edits to avoid the 3RR rule, used false complaints to try to stifle me and made personal attacks against me. I would only reply when I received a message and when I responded to one user, I got a reply from another user instead, which is obvious teamwork. They also weren't willing to discuss the issues prior to reverting and were domineering in controlling the article and putting me down at all costs. The Talk page where this all occurred has been archived by me to remove from plain view since all of the edits in question have been accepted as factual by all parties and is a moot point anyway and is now nothing more than a forum for bashing each other's style. I will apologize to this user and see if that will make them happy and will try to offer an olive branch to all 3 of them to settle the issue, but I haven't said anything I'm ashamed of, I haven't made any personal attacks unrelated to the article or issues involved, and I haven't done anything that would be against the spirit of the rules; however, I can't say the same for their actions.--Bamadude 01:16, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

This complain concerns Adam Cuerden ‘s behavior in the talk page of Homeopathy. Adam Cuerden has been rude to me and other users and recently hided my new suggestion for a change in encyclopedia sentence clearly because he has a different point of view.

However, I will highlight some facts. I was arguing politely to change a sentence trying to modify the old one in an acceptable way from all the editors, to be more precise and to reflect a NPOV according to the wikipidia ’s policy.

I came up with a new suggestion and summarizing my old arguments and adding new data, I posted it.

Adam Cuerden told me that I could not understand what a scientific consensus is. I replied that we could use exactly the words of one of his cited references and if he thinks that his cited references are inaccurate or POV. It was a rhetorical question of course and he immediately hided my comments arguing that I have repeated the same arguments a dozen times. After I informed him that I would report his unacceptable behavior I asked where exactly I have repeated them. He did not reply so far 10/7/2007 2:15:54 AM (New York time).

Some other users also complained about him.

Some days ago he blocked my account for trying to add a POV tag. Typically he was right since I did not follow the 3-edit rule. Other users who agree with him reverted the edits, which we had agreed upon in the talk page with the main editor of the article. Their behavior was totally uncivil and I tried to protest about it, maybe not so elegantly. No action was taken to prevent this behavior of the other users. I reported the evidence to Tim Vickers describing all these. It is worth reading it to realize the situation. [4] Tim Vickers wrote him this message. [5]

Adam Cuerden has a poor record moderating discussions with other users; as well here are some examples.

After the last incident it is clear that this kind of behavior seriously contributes to a pathological and unproductive atmosphere and discredit wikipedia. Please restore my comments in the talk page.

Finally I would ask you to consider that a protected (under dispute) sign to be added in the article. There is a long dispute with serious arguments from both sides on the article which many editors refuse to accept. Whatever attempt to put under dispute sign is reverted by some editors including Adam Cuerden . It is fair to be there protected until a consensus is reached. I think it is the only fair option for a such controversial topic and it represents the reality. Lets be honest and not hide it. Best wishes

Is there any way to check the IP of this user to see if they are a sock puppet of another annoying user Grant_Chuggle. I agree. What is most scary is the talk page and the behavior issues. If an administrator tries to investigate, he/she will be surpised to discover that the rules of wikipedia dont apply and the atmosphere is almost pathological. Maybe it is like that in every controversial article and maybe thats why they say that the only way to find the truth is visiting the talk page of such an article. Please help / Advise me with recent edit war

I have been trying to add an external link to The Golden State Warriors blogs section. I have read the rules and it appears nothing is wrong with this. The subject matter is valid and informational and it does not violate any of the terms for external links. Only one individual continuously removed my attempts to add a valid external link that meets the guide lines. The entry in question was originally not even entered by myself but someone else who frequents the link in question. I only started to attempt to add the link again after Chrishomingtang repeatedly removed it. I suspect he must have some motive for this continued behavior? I only wish to follow the rules and as far as I can see I have been. If not please advise me what I need to do to meet the requirements for adding an external link without worrying it will constantly be removed.

Request to look over an article

Hi Daniel, Larrys Creek is going to be Today's Featured Article on Friday, October 19. Would you mind taking a look at it before then? I and some other editors have looked closely at it recently. Based on what we found, I have gone through and done a lot of little nitpicky cleanup edits, but would appreciate it if you could take a look. Your comments on White Deer Hole Creek were most helpful and I am sure there are some things here you might find that I have missed.

More specifically I was wondering about acres: should they be converted to hectares or to square kilometers? The article used to use square km for area throughout, but another editor switched any acres from square km to hectares recently (leaving square miles as square km). Also, on a slightly unrelated note to pick your geographer's brain, is "subtributaries" an acceptable word for a tributary of a tributary? (This came up in Plunketts Creek (Loyalsock Creek) describing small streams in the watershed).
