Incorrect correction

I attempted to update the album information on AC/DC's wiki page, as it was incorrect. I own a copy of their album T.N.T. which was the Australian release in 1975, prior to the U.S. compilation album High Voltage in 1976. I was accused of being incorrect and making "unconsstructive edits", which I take offence to. What is going on?

Hi there

pls tell me what was wrong with the redirection of Booty article

User.Yryriza/Pablo Picaso

I agree with you that displayed, or was on display is better, or even was on exhibit. I was correcting the popular misuse of "hung" more so than the choice of word that was picked.

Trouted

Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that you did something silly.

You have been trouted for: Just delete "dirk dickbutt" it's obviously vandalism and should redirect to nothing. Wikipedia is full of rules nuts that make things too impractical. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.62.123.230 (talkcontribs)

Capitals in section titles

I'm still new to the magnificent magnitude of Wiki editing, and not as competent late at night or after absence. Thanks for the kind reminder of basics -- capitalize only first word of section title. I went back over old contributions and even fixed others' typos. Consider a star reward here too. AnEyeSpy (talk) 21:15, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification

Just to avoid any misunderstanding, I deleted the consideration for deletion; the page has already been deleted and there is no requirement to discuss whether it should get deleted or not. In the future, I will provide an explanation if I do this, so thank you for alerting me. For your information, I created that page and wished to delete it, because the issue was not relevant anymore.

Thanks.

Magic Mack!

What information would be needed for the Magic Mack! article not to be deleted? — Preceding unsigned comment added by JacksonAnderson1234 (talkcontribs) 10:33, 28 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article is quite well written. As there is not too many releases, that wp:notability is an issue. In other words, I don't know. Good luck! Jim1138 (talk) 10:38, 28 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Also, does this mean that I can remove the "This article is being considered for deletion" banner over the page now?

Never mind. I just read the article about how pages get deleted and how they stay. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JacksonAnderson1234 (talkcontribs) 19:06, 28 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

First Cymru / Crossgates Coaches

Please do not amend my edits to the First Cymru and Crossgates Coaches pages. Bus services are not the easiest thing to source due to their constantly changing nature. Please trust that I know what I am doing when I edit these pages. You can see a press release reflecting my changes from the First Cymru website at http://www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/south_west_wales/travel_news/service_updates/?item=5781&conf=0. Crossgates Coaches have ceased to operate local services as of this week so that is my reasoning for removing the table of services, in fact this is referenced in the article by another user! There are no sources to confirm this however, but an enthusiast's Yahoo Group (Welsh Bus News) makes reference to the fact in this post: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/welsh-bus-news/message/26057 Paulravuslanterna (talk) 09:27, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

David DeFeis

Yesterday I edited an article of David DeFeis, I removed his birth of year and now it's back there (and wrong btw). Well I happened to know him (very well) and that he doesn't want to publish his year of birth. I also emailed to him, and like I said.... well, here's the answer:

"All of our birthday information is not for public consumption...whether the date is right or wrong...We are all very private people."

So can you respect his will/wish and remove that year, permanently?

Why did you put the show that is coming to Nick Jr? They're are not gonna show it on september 3. It's trash — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.10.249.147 (talk) 03:20, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I undid your edit as you did not leave an wp:edit summary which lets people know why you removed what you did. As many people do similar things to vandalize pages, try to let people know that you are not vandalizing by leaving a meaningful reason on the edit summary. A link to the current show line up would be quite helpful to check the verifiablity (please read) of the changes. Thank you Jim1138 (talk) 03:27, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
What if the shows not coming to nick jr. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.10.249.147 (talk) 03:37, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If you have a link to a website where you are getting that information, please add it to the page. Maybe something like <ref>[http://www.nickjr.com/New_shows Nick jr new shows]</ref> (not the correct link btw) Then, when you remove the content, put "Updated page to current source: Nick jr new shows". That way people can check for themselves and your edits less likely to be removed. Good luck Jim1138 (talk) 03:50, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Vegetarians and nonviolence ethics

Yes, the source is wikipedia list of vegetarians. see - even Jesus and apostles were vegetarians... yes, I'll add a link there for a whole list (those Hitler is non-veg - he killed many saints and vegetarians - there is a proof that he killed, sentenced to death oldest European vegetarian union in Germany.

Here it is: List of vegetarians

I want to make a small version of the list, so people know who are vegetarians and don't kill animals in name of religion culture etc... Even Bible says - "do not kill, flesh and blood - do not eat"... but people have so many slaughterhouses... see? — Preceding unsigned comment added by GoGandhi (talkcontribs) 09:07, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The subject of the articles you added the template to mostly have little to do with vegetarianism. Issac Newton, while an occasional vegetarian and an absolute genius in some areas, would make an amusing spokesperson for a vegetarian movement. Would you really want to list him as a vegetarian? Your username and this leads to the conclusion that you are pushing your own agenda. See WP:NOTPROMOTION. Your addition of the File:Cannibals.23232.jpg image does not contribute to the topic, is intended to gross people out, and is vandalism. Why not add File:penis.jpg or something similar? You really see yourself as Gandhi? Also, is your language above in line with Gandhi? Perhaps you should change your user name to something more appropriate? I could suggest a few. Alumni pruning went well just now at St Stepeh's. What do you think about removing all that are not explicitly cited in accordance with the tag {{alumni}}? Fiddle Faddle (talk) 11:28, 1 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Using wp:huggle, I see someone add to the list then check the list for red links. Need a tool that removes red links from the lists of people. At least List of Yale University people is longer. Harvard University#Alumni is shorter or at least more compact. I would say that the articles in the list need pruning; and would be an undertaking. I and not really the person to ask, but would probably leave the list alone per wp:lists of people. I would say there are far more important Wikipedia issues anyway. Image spam?

Good morning, Jim. I see that you have reverted an image addition by User:Jared Kofsky here with the comment "rv overuse of image". This new editor is adding his photos to hundreds of articles, in many cases repetitively, with little or no regard to relevance, subject or caption notability or the quality of the photos. Can you advise me as to whether there is a policy being violated? I would like to give him a warning and slow down this onslaught. I wouldn't regard it as deliberate vandalism, but for the most part it is not beneficial to WP. I am unable to keep up with the reversions and modifications needed, and other than you, I don't see anyone else helping. I will watch here for a reply. Thank you. Hertz1888 (talk) 08:05, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Try talking to him. He does seem a bit overenthusiastic. There is Template:Uw-image1 and Template:Uw-disruptive1, but a "I think you are putting these photos on too many pages..." would be by far the best place to start. Jim1138 (talk) 08:12, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Flipkart

Hi Jim,

I have been editing Wikipedia articles for some time but I am not as proficient as you are. I have noticed that you deleted the "issues and problems" section I have added to Flipkart. I have two questions to ask regarding this. 1. The source I have quoted there is from a publication on a business and entrepreneurship blog that has been running for the last five years. I understand that linking to a blog might not be acceptable to Wiki standards. If that is the case, there are other references in the article that link to blogs like this one <http://www.watblog.com/2012/08/08/flipkart-hits-100cr-mark-in-july-2012-while-flyte-garners-600k-downloads-in-5-months/> too, which should have been deleted in the same vein. May I know if it is fine to add blogs when the tone is positive but not so when the section of article is critical of the subject. 2. I also observed that the whole section of "issues and problems" was deleted, after removing the link. If the tone of article was wrong, a suggestion to correct it, based on Wikipedia:Neutral_point_of_view would have helped, rather than deleting the entire section, effectively killing the criticism.Thank you. Jim, I hope you don't mind me replying instead. Dsrivallabha, as far as I know, we don't add "criticism" sections unless a reputed newspaper or news agency reports it. Thank you. Ryoga Godai (talk) 14:14, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello iam Stelios Constantas and i dont need a source!!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.109.6.229 (talk) 20:38, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Stelios .. Well, yes, you do need a source, we have no way of insuring you are Stelios. Everything on Wikipedia is subject to our five pillars, which includes WP:V. However, the one source already in the article does in fact use a C, and not a K, and I've made the correction. In fact, it's my fault that this wasn't corrected earlier, at some point in the past I added a reference to that article and didn't notice the error. Please note that the error is repeated at the Dutch, German wikipedias and I have not corrected those articles. Our interwiki links therefore should continue to have the "wrong" spelling until those encyclopedias are corrected, so that we at least link to the articles in question. I'm sure that will all get sorted out pretty quick. My apologies for the error. Best, --j⚛e deckertalk 20:54, 3 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Umm, would you please review the entry you made here. This is a new user, making his first edit to an article. It seems like a good faith entry to me, even though he failed to provide sources. I'm assuming you hit the wrong button by error. Please correct your entry and apologize to the user, who seems a bit stunned and has stopped editing. edit warring on jewwatch talk page

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware, Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made; that is to say, editors are not automatically "entitled" to three reverts.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.

Please stop edit warring and removing other peoples comments as you did on the JewWatch talk page. as you stated yourself — Preceding unsigned comment added by WitsBlomstein (talkcontribs) 13:36, 7 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, you removed content from a closed section (per: wp:NOTFORUM) talk page. Then you added content to the same talk page. I did two reverts to two different items. That is two single reverts: not edit warring not even 1RR let alone 3RR. Stop editing closed sections at is stated at the top of the section. Closed means closed. Do not modify means don't edit. Jim1138 (talk)
Firstly, I restored a comment since you can actually check the history of said article. you removed conent from a closed section. so yes by your own logic you did wrong. and then by simular logic you added content by the same talk page. I did two reverts to two different items. stop editing closed sections and remove conent from a closed discussion as you did with the one I reverted. do not modify means dont edit. you edited.WitsBlomstein (talk) 01:56, 8 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Uh, I restored the content of the closed section as it was before you edited it twice. Once you removed other's comments after the section was closed. The second time, you added content after the section was closed. It would seem that three disagree with you. Jim1138 (talk) 02:46, 8 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I know a great deal about the Niagara Falls operations but very little about Wikipedia, but the best way to learn is to give it a shot. I have added more to the talk section today. I will work on references over time as I can. Please migrate anything to the article when and how you see fit - I will restrict my efforts to just the talk page. I don't know how to go about inviting others to comment and I'm afraid to try and make the kind of mistakes I just did and insult someone, so it would be great if you could ping them to review and comment on what I have so far.

I haven't and don't intend to write anything in any other article and wish to remain anonymous, so I hope my lack of an ID is not a problem (using public wifi that downtown residents all use here). In any case, what I or anyone else writes needs to stand up to verification and logic anyway, regardless of who wrote something.

Thanks for your help and patience! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.11.85.188 (talk) 19:11, 8 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re:September 2012

Hi, you've reverted my edit. I would like to move this image to Commons (simple text logo). Could you undo revert? Thanks, Przemub (talk) 20:25, 8 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, fair use, such as logos are not allowed on commons. See wikimedia.org/wiki/Fair_use Cheers. Jim1138 (talk) 20:32, 8 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Warring at Jimbo's page

Please be aware that edit warring, even one edit, can be a violation of Wikipedia policies. There's no obvious need for the comment to be removed, so unless you can provide an overriding justification for the removal, please leave it be. Thanks. -- Avanu (talk) 01:27, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Just curious, is there a policy link for this? Thanks Jim1138 (talk) 01:32, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
For edit warring? Sure... Wikipedia:Edit warring -- Avanu (talk) 01:34, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
For policy regarding a one revert limit to Jimmy Wales' page. Not complaining, just curious. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 01:37, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And Jim showed no intent of continuing this beyond that.--Jasper Deng (talk) 01:39, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) One revert isn't a hard rule. But when several editors are ganging up on one editor as was happening here, you should look to the policy at Wikipedia:Edit warring#The three-revert rule. "any user may report edit-warring with or without 3RR being breached. The rule is not an entitlement to revert a page a specific number of times." Apparently the editor that was adding the material is now blocked for being a sockpuppet. Removing due to the sockpuppet violation would have been a legitimate reason to remove the material. The reasons that were given by the group of you:
  • rv not notable
  • Reverted edits by Kijoorete-Bahnhof (talk) to last revision by Jim1138
  • Yes, canvassing
  • user indef blocked for disruption and then discovered to be a sockpuppet
Only the last one was a legit reason. The third one would normally be a legit reason, except it was Jimbo's page, which has a specific exception for that. -- Avanu (talk) 01:47, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nice catch

Thanks I always leave comments on my talk--even stupid ones--but I appreciate the intervention. —Justin (koavf)TCM 02:31, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ayn Rand

Please allow me time to make edits. I was in process of adding source when you deleted my edits. Any deleted edits regarding the state require no citations because they involve core principles of her philosophy. If you want me to just cite 'Objectivism' wiki article as source I'll do that but it's totally superfluous. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.83.5.102 (talk) 03:17, 10 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
