BorgQueen (talk) 21:46, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your comments. As the main author of the article, I intended to cover the entire Kannada speaking region (Kingdom of Mysore, Kingdom of Keladi and other areas) prior to the advent of mature Modern literature. Given this, and having read the article, what do you think would be the appropriate name for it: Kannada literature, 1600–1900 CE or what it has been reverted to now. Your opinion helps.Dineshkannambadi (talk) 17:17, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
- Congrats for make Vithoba a FA. BTW, given the current contents of the article which have only been copy edited/improved and not switched, what in your opinion would be the correct title for the article above? Your opinion is important, so please do make a mention on the PR page. Some choices I can think of are: what I had as of Dec 16, "Kannada literature, 1600-1900 CE" which is not geographic specific; OR something more on the lines "Kannada literature in the Kingdom of Mysore and neighbouring states" etc. Best wishesDineshkannambadi (talk) 02:47, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, their earliest inscription itself is from around 1551 CE. The geneology prior to that is unclear though later literatures and manuscripts trace the family rulers to 1399 CE. This is quite common with Indian kingdoms actually.Dineshkannambadi (talk) 15:43, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Exactly, what sort of alteration you want on images? I can do some basic alterations and enhancements on images. Maybe, Some one also can help. Why dont you upload them as it is. Newer vesions can be uploaded afterwards.--Anish (talk) 14:41, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

I hear Vithoba has been successfully promoted to FA status. Your persistence has made Vithoba a FA. Good work. Keep it up. KensplanetTC 04:57, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
- Belive me it is a run around :(( if it is a typical western subject matter, I dont think people have to go through all this trouble but anyways I am working on Aiyanar right now, it is interesting how this deity is getting fused with Ayyappa who is already fused with Shasta and as the son of Harihara. At least we are living this moment of metamorphisis. My wifes family members formerly Aiynar devotees have ended up building a typical South Indian style (not Keralite) temple for Ayyppa in Toronto. I will include a picture of that beautiful temple in the article eventually. Ayyappa article is a mess though. Taprobanus (talk) 05:57, 31 December 2008 (UTC)
- I completed Sasta as part of completing the Aiyanar article. Please take a look, when u have time. I had no idea about this deity or even Aiyanar while growing up, all waht we knew were trimurthy and the associted lot. U live and learn :))Thanks Taprobanus (talk) 06:17, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

Woohoo!
Thanks for letting me know Tiger. Well done! I only spent time at Vithoba because your work was so good it deserved this. Perhaps I helped remove some obstacles, but really, FA was always coming. You research, write and co-operate very well indeed. It has been a pleasure assisting a little, and I'd love to have the privelege of assisting your excellent work again some time. Great writers deserve support, and you are a great writer, and a great person. Shabash Tiger! :D Alastair Haines (talk) 05:59, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Copyright concerns; tagging
Hello, Redtigerxyz. Thank you for pointing out your copyright concerns with File:Ayyappan.jpg. I'm dropping you a line just to let you know that the tag that you placed on the image, {{copyvio}}, is specifically used for text that violates copyright. For images that are clear copyright violations, you can follow the procedure for speedy deletion. For images that are suspected to be copyright violations, we have a review board for possibly unfree images. For images used under suspect non-free content criteria, we have non-free content review. Other image copyright concerns are handled in various ways (see Wikipedia:Guide to image deletion for specifics.) I have placed this image on your behalf at Possibly Unfree Images: Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images/2009 January 1. Please feel free to leave any comments you might have about the matter there. Thanks again for pointing out the potential problem. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:27, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
Re : Lord Jagannath Cult
All matters of faith are ultimately matters of opinion dont you think? Since many other pages contain prefixes of respect be it in English or other languages I guess I used it too. To defend myself I would say it stems out of the old habits of a humble devotee --Sidsahu (talk) 07:39, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
please do have a look the lord word is now cleaned up and it is now Jagannath cult. I have added a lot of new articles on the subject and would be happy to have your opinion on the matter (Sidsahu (talk) 06:28, 28 January 2009 (UTC))

A type assessment or downgrading
Hi, sorry about this. But, we do not assess or downgrade an article alone as far as GA/A/FA etc. are concerned. A single user from assessment department marks upto B for an article. For higher grades there is review/removal-review. So, I have undone your reassessment for Kadamba Dynasty and Culture of Thiruvananthapuram. If you think these articles do not deserve their current ratings, you can file GAR. Hope you appreciate the issue.--GDibyendu (talk) 14:09, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Over Smart Peoples of Wikipedia
Hi!! You know why we are not able to expand Mum police and MumFB is due to lack of refrences. With out knowing this fact few people on wikipedia (They are not Indian) says that Articles on Vijay Salaskar, Ashok Kamte, Hemant Karkare are useless articles and should be deleted and says ""the relevant page is WP:NOTMEMORIAL: Wikipedia isn't a memorial site for deceased people. All articles on people who are notable only because they were killed in the Mumbai attacks belong merged into Casualties of the 2008 Mumbai attacks""(This article is not written as a Memorial nor as Homage) read thisSAVE THIS THREE ARTICLES FROM DELETION--Suyogtalk to me! 10:01, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Krakatoa
A large amount of the text in the article has not been tied in with any form of reference or citation - which is why the tag was there - SatuSuro 05:20, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
There is a problematic distinction between trying to get the editors who have been slipping in unattributed material over time - versus a general article tag at the top - I would defer to a general tag on the basis that to put cite needed throughout the article can constitute nuisance value (every sentence with a citation tag is not exactyl standard practice) - it was all through the original article - a problem that I think is generally addressed by a single tag SatuSuro 05:28, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Being the initiator of the Karakatoa category and split - I would argue against a DYK - the attraction of childish vandalism is enough without having that sort of exposure while it is still such a mess from the split. A number of other issues arise and I can explain if necessary SatuSuro 05:35, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Originally the Krakatoa article was one - and getting long and having incremental unattributable material. The Krakatoa category was created yesterday or so - and split yesterday was Krakatoa and 1883 eruption of Krakatoa - as well as the Krakatoa in popular culture into 2 separate articles - so from 2 into 4 - there is a lot of tidying up to do SatuSuro 05:56, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for the kind suggestion of a DYK, I think DYK is better served highlighting new articles and recognising the editors that make them not an admin doing maintance stuff. Also I agree with SatuSuro this was only a split to tidy an excessively long article that was getting more wayward there isnt any new content and there are significant portions that need to have sourcing addressed. I think User:Editorcade is a transparent sock of User:Powerprowess, since the account was created minutes after I gave the latter a 3RR warning and seems to be arguing for the linga=phallus view (which, I do not object to, in itself). Don't think there is any need for CU or sanctions just yet, but wanted to get your opinion on this. Cheers. Abecedare (talk) 05:59, 19 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your contributions, especially for fixing the typos, in the article Panjabrao Deshmukh. But I didn't understand the rationale for removing the stamp image in that article. By removing it from the article it is categorized as orphaned, and currently is nominated for speedy deletion. Will you please explain me about it. Ramakrishna in Shaktism
Got your point, Redtiger but I respectfully disagree. Ramkrishna believed in Kali as the supreme being, yet he was a leading proponent of Advaita and ishta deva theory; therefore, his views are not the same as the Kalikula school which believes Kali alone to be the supreme being; In addition, he did not believe in the left hand practices of some followers of Kalikula; therefore believing in Kali and being orthodox are not incompatible.
Hope this clarifies. Iskcon site was cited to state generally known facts; about four branches of Hinduism fact that they believe in Gaudiya Vaishnavism is irrelevant, if general statements about Hinduism are true; i.e., there are shaiva, vaishnava and shakta schools.

Vithobha pictures
Hello, I have received the mail giving the permission to use the pictures (with acknowledgment, which we anyway do in the image page). In fact, they have not put any restrictions on the images related to Vithobha, Trailanga Swami to use, they have sent a generic mail saying that we can use the images from the journal for educational, non-profit purpose like on wikipedia. I will upload the pictures tomorrow, Will be busy today. Just thought will intimate this., Thanks. --Nvineeth (talk) 14:40, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
- Done! See Talk:Vithoba. Can you also share your opinions on the Ramakrishna article, You are more experienced editor than me, now there is a conflict related to "Biographic Sources". I am not aware of any article where we discuss the Biographic Sources and then write the article! You may go through the older Biographical sources and the critical problems related to this listed here and the newer work. You had pointed out that having this in the main article is undue during peer review. Pls share your thoughts. Also can you help in tracking down the "sub-par prose quality" related problems, I am probably not good at finding these out, since my experience with FA, GA isn't much --Nvineeth (talk) 08:14, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
