* Reason: Well, I have 2 usernames (Adolfobs23 and Adolfobs93) and i would like first to Merge the 2 user accounts, and after rename Adolfobs93 to BicScope Adolfobs93 (talk) 03:20, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Revision as of 03:20, 22 January 2009

New requests should be made at WP:CHU or WP:USURP as appropriate.

This page was a temporary forum for the processing of username changes that related to the migration to single unified login (SUL) between June 2008 and April 2010. Prior to this, it served as a holding pen for requests that could not be completed due to bugs in the SUL renaming process.

Instructions

For the instructions that were in use at the time this page was closed to new requests, see Wikipedia:Changing username/SUL/Front matter/Instructions

Notes

  • When the rename has been completed, your account will have been renamed, and any contributions you have made (including deleted contributions) will be reattributed to your new account as a background process. Your account preferences, watchlist contents, password, etc. will all be preserved, and your user and user talk pages will have been moved to the new name.
Note: The process responsible for reallocating old contributions is currently dependent upon the job queue mechanism. As such, you may find old contributions do not immediately appear under your new account; this is perfectly normal. Updates should take at most a day to complete, although the length of time will vary according to the size of the job queue on this wiki, and the status of the server processes which process this queue.
  • The change will appear in the user rename log and the request will be moved to the archives in the interest of transparency. It is not possible to rename accounts without an entry being created in the log.
  • This change will not affect signatures you have already left on talk pages, or other places where you signed your username with ~~~~. Those pages will continue to display your signature (including the link to your old username) unless edited manually.
  • Be aware: Once you have been renamed, your old account will no longer exist and may potentially be recreated by a third party. This is true even if your old account pages have been redirected towards your new account. To guard against impersonation, you may wish to recreate the old account yourself.

A few users have agreed to provide assistance with the mechanics of this process. If you wish to assist as well, please read the linked page carefully.

Amatulic → Anachronist

I am known as 'Anachronist' on all other Wiki projects, as well as in email. I request usurpation of 'Anachronist' on Wikipedia under the 'rare exceptions' condition mentioned in the lead paragraph of Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations, to allow for a single user login (SUL) under this username.

The 'Anachronist' account has made only one single edit in 2002 (hence my request for an 'exception'). I cannot contact the account holder by email (perhaps a bureaucrat could do so?) The account is clearly abandoned, and its single contribution is neither significant nor controversial. I would like to have a consistent username across projects. ~Amatulić (talk) 20:54, 13 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bureaucrat note: Are you the Anachronist on enwiktionary? RlevseTalk 01:26, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Bureaucrat note: The sticking point here is that lone edit is actually significant from a GFDL standpoint (it created the article) and you have few edits to any other projects which makes the SUL claim weaker. I know it might not be your preferred option, but unifying your account around Amatulic might be better. That or make a few thousand edits to one of the other projects and then request again. :) - Taxman Talk 20:54, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I am Anachronist on Wiktionary (29 edits), Commons (12), WikiQuote (4), and elsewhere. The user pages on those other projects should redirect to my user page here on Wikipedia. I had few edits on Wikipedia when those accounts were created. My request for usurpation then was denied. Since then, my Wikipedia edits have accumulated under this account name I never wanted (Amatulic). Wiktionary and Commons are my most frequent-use other projects, but admittedly I do far more browsing those projects than contributing. I don't know how I'd manage a few thousand edits on Commons, for example, without changing my career to a photographer!
I don't understand why the lone edit to add 1 or 2 lines of text is "significant" just because it created an article. I have no problem with that edit, either to take credit for it or publicly disclaim it on my talk page. It would become an insigificant entry in my edit history. I would appreciate further explanation on this point.
If only the original owner of the 'Anachronist' account on Wikipedia could be contacted, this whole issue could be resolved...
My request remains open under the 'rare exceptions' condition described on WP:USURP. Thanks for the consideration.

→ Jack Phoenix

Hi,

I'd like to have the user account User:Jack Phoenix on this wiki renamed because the account has been created by a vandal and has only been used for malicious, bad-faith edits and I'm trying to get my my unified account completed. I'm a MediaWiki developer and have previously used - and still use - the username Roosa (please see my Meta-Wiki userpage and this diff for more information).

You can email me at jack[ at ]countervandalism[ dot ]net, replacing [ at ] with @ and [ dot ] with . if you want to discuss this in further detail.

Thanks in advance!
