Nikkō Station (日光駅, Nikkō-eki) is a railway station in the city of Nikkō, Tochigi, Japan, operated by the East Japan Railway Company (JR East).

Lines[edit]

Nikkō Station forms the terminus of the Nikkō Line, and is located 40.5 kilometers from the opposing terminus of the line at Utsunomiya.

Station layout[edit]

The station consists of two opposed side platforms, connected to the station building by a footbridge. The station has a Midori no Madoguchi staffed ticket office.

History[edit]

Nikkō Station opened on 1 August 1890.^[1] With the privatization of Japanese National Railways (JNR) on 1 April 1987, the station came under the control of JR East.^[1]

Passenger statistics[edit]

In fiscal 2019, the station was used by an average of 1046 passengers daily (boarding passengers only).^[2]
