Bots

Hi! Maybe I'm just misunderstanding something, but shouldn't a bot normally edit for at least a week or make over 100 edits before it can be auto-approved per the bot policy? I noticed vo:User:Ripchip Bot is just 3 days old with about 40 edits. Regards, Jafeluv 13:04, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. she got the bot flag because local 'crats asked for it on the local discussion page. you can see the links. I didn't give her a flag on the rest from the reason you mentioned. Matanya 14:01, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, sorry, I can't see it. You mean vo:Vükiped:Bots? The last edit on that page is the posting of Ripchip Bot's request on 8 March, isn't it? Jafeluv 07:55, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
my bad, I've seen the bot policy, not the request. Matanya 13:56, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

removal of talk page content

You appear to have removed some content that I put on my user talk page, and you claimed that you did so to remove "private data". The only possible part of what I posted that might appear to be "private data" was my own email address, which is not a private address. There were also some imaginary "conversations" that I wrote and copies of some user talk page discussions, such as that from your user talk page, but there was no reason for you to remove the content that I posted. Please return the content that I put on my user talk page to my user talk page. --JWSurf 17:56, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

As a blocked user, that misused the admin and 'crat tools, I don't think you understand the meaning of private data. As a matter of fact I won't do so. Matanya 19:20, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
"misused the admin and 'crat tools" <-- What are you talking about?
"I don't think you understand the meaning of private data" <-- I think you are wrong, but that does not matter. There was no "private data" in what I posted to my user talk page. In case you still have not read what I posted, you can see what I posted here. Please return the content that I put on my user talk page to my user talk page. --JWSurf 19:37, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm very disappointed to see you spread that post to another place. The discussion is repeating itself, so I'm off it. You totally lack the knowledge of what personal data means. And your email is a personal data as well, but you chose to reveal it. I have nothing to add to this subject and I won't reply on this subject anymore. Matanya 20:34, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
"I'm very disappointed to see you spread that post to another place" <-- Why? If you read it you can see that there is no "personal data" in what I posted. I did include an email address that is my own, but that is my business. "The discussion is repeating itself" <-- only because you will not explain your removal of talk page content from my user talk page. "I won't reply on this subject anymore" <-- Your failure to explain your action to me seems to be a violation of policy. --JWSurf 20:50, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

An offering for our new administrator from your comrades... (our budget is smaller than Commons)

Matanya, congratulations! You now have the rights of administrator on Meta. Please take a moment to read the Meta:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat, and Meta:Requests for deletion, but also Talk:Spam blacklist and Talk:Interwiki map), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings, or modifications of protected pages. The majority of the actions of administrators can be reversed by the other admins, except for history merges which must thus be treated with particular care.

A tip: add this page Meta:Administrators' discussion index to your watchlist, it tracks the latest activity to various sections of many of the important pages.

Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-admin @ irc.freenode.net. You may find Commons:Guide to adminship to be useful reading although it doesn't always completely apply here at Meta.

Please also check or add your entry to Meta:Administrators#List_of_administrators and the Template:List of administrators.

Confusion

Hello Matanya,

I just read your message on kbd.wiki. Thank you for going into all this trouble and letting me know, and there is no need to apologize, of course. But to be honest, I am confused.

I occasionally see cratship requests being denied due to size of the wiki (Don't see the logic behind it though), but I don't understand why adminship became temporary all of a sudden.

I'd surely appreciate it if you could specify the policy in question.

Best

Thank you very much for understanding the situation, I have removed your crat rights. The relevant policy is: here. Matanya 07:22, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of photo

Hi:

Recently a photo was removed from the David Levy Wikiquote and Wikipedia. Given all the rules and guidelines it appears I had submitted everything properly but apparently not. I need assistance in uploading the photo. What should I do differently to upload the photo. It is not a copyright photo and was provided by the author.

Admin access for Ora Unu on pflwiki

Hi Matanya , thank you for granting Ora Unu admin access on pflwiki. I wonder why you did that temporarely for six months and not permanent. Is this this a new rule? Of course, that's not a big problem, why could extend it in six months :-). Kind regards, --Holder 04:28, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I granted temp adminship, since the community is really small. If on the next term it will be bigger, no problem granting permanent. best Matanya 07:03, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

selamatkan aku

Hello, are you steward? Help me! Because I was blocked there (accusation) canvassing at Indonesian Wikipedia. And lately I've never done anything like that. Just look list contribution at there. Please (if possible) revoked the block status.

Oh ya, I also ask to release the SockPuppet I was there named id:User: Erik Evermtus at Indonesian Wikipedia because this account will be used as a substitute if the main account stolen by others such as id:User:Kenrick95Sock. Thank you --Erik Evrest 04:49, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I can't revoke local blocks. Did you talk to whom blocked you? Matanya 07:03, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Help me! That means the same as abuse of authority. So blocking is a feasible status revoked and the blocker can be removed his admin status--Erik Evrest 12:12, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Temporaries

Hi! Please remember to move removed temporary permission sections from SRAT to the archive after processing as the instruction in the page header indicate. That way the next permissions to expire will be at the top and it's easier to keep track of them. Cheers, Jafeluv 07:33, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Leak of private email by Vibhijain

Hi,

Understand your a steward on meta. I dont normally make such requests however there is something I would like you to look into. A private email sent by me to a user (Vibhijain) was leaked by him here [1]. I dont deny the email nor do I see any wrong in it. I dint intend to do anything about it as I felt though the guy is immature he has tremendous potential to do good on wiki globally. This guy was warned not to leak private emails on meta, but he retorted "... This can't be considered a as warning at all."! Just wondering if anything can be done about this. I dont want to scare this guy of wikipedia, hes just 13 at the same time he needs to be dealt with by a firm hand. Hope you can help. Cheers, AroundTheGlobe 17:33, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've added some words there. best Matanya 19:26, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Global lock of Poetlister accounts

Were these actions based on a discussion somewhere, open or closed, or is there evidence of recent "cross-wiki abuse" or "abusing multiple accounts"?

Thanks. --Abd 22:07, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

hello, the discussion is here Requests for comment/Poetlister and Cato. You may also see theose local blocks on those accounts. best Matanya 22:24, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That discussion ended, last comment, 14 September, 2008, and was for information, no decision was made on action. Are you saying that your global locks were based on what was done before then by Poetlister?
From Poetlister global contributions, the only account of the above that was active recently was on Wikiversity, where he is a user in good standing and has not been a problem. So the only effect of the global lock is to prevent him from editing there.
Is there a wiki where Poetlister was recently causing disruption, perhaps something I missed? If not, would you consider unlocking, at least Poetlister, which seems to be the name by which he is most widely known. Thanks. --Abd 22:52, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
For full discloser I would expect you to link to this thread, where my name is mentioned. I see that this is not a clear cut. Would you mind If I'll ask other steward to review this, I feel that since I locked it I might be in conflict of interes, as I would want to protect my action. You may choose any steward you wish. Matanya 23:02, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Consulting is fine, of course. This would be speedily resolved if you unlock, at least Poetlister, if you can conclude from consideration that the lock isn't necessary, but you are not required to do anything, I was asking you first because it was your action. If you wish, I'll request on the global locking page. I prefer not to select a steward, because I'd prefer a sympathetic one! -- and I don't test my friends that way. But I might request a 'crat delink on Wikiversity, where the user has positive contributions and there have been no problems. Do you care to disclose what led you to your action? Thanks! --Abd 00:08, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your civil response. I'd appricate using global unlock page. The reason of this lock was vandal account cleaning, in which I found those accounts and reviwed there contributions. I saw no harm locking them, and I'm not sure I was wrong. best Matanya 05:07, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am likewise concerned over the lock of Poetlister. The user is, or rather was contributing positively to enwikiversity. Locking a user who is editing in good faith, regardless of past history, doesn't sit well with me. The harm comes from the good contributions which are lost as a result of him not being allowed to edit anymore, when his only recent edits have been productive. Getting the ballot dump from the last election

Hi Matanya! Thanks again for the great work you did helping out with the board election. I have been doing some number crunching on various wikimedia datasets [2]. The ballot data, removed of voter names of course, is going to be made public at some point, but the sooner that could happen, the better. I don't always have this much free time to learn from datasets, and we also have a referendum scheduled for August. Aside from looking for bugs in the interface, I'd also like to do exploratory factor analysis to try to learn about our electorate and its diversity. --Alecmconroy 07:45, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for your words. I don't have it, and I think no one from the committee has, better try to ask JHS if he knows how do get it, might be you need a dev. best Matanya 07:52, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Mass desysop on en-wiki

Hi there. Per your user page on en-wiki I'm asking you here about a set of steward actions you took recently. See here (old version) and here and the clarification section I started at the end of the latter thread. What I'm trying to find out is whether this was a one-off misunderstanding or a systemic failure. Would you be able to comment here or there about this? I've also made a comment here. Thanks. Carcharoth 10:49, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, glad you came here to discuss this issue. One thing that doesn't reduce my responsibility regarding this wrong action, as you can see in the logs, is that I wasn't the only steward how fulfilled this request. For example: here. Anyway, to get to the point, I have learned my lesson form this failure, and a rush removal of such, wouldn't happen on my side again. Moreover, I have checked where was my point of failure, and I found out that my mistake was I didn't read the result of the vote carefully enough and missed this very important detail. I sincerely apologizes about this action, and hope no harm had happened. Thank you for pointing this out, and I'll appreciate if you'll quote my words on the relevant pages. sorry and best Matanya 11:32, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for such a prompt response and for the general apology. I'll add a diff of what you've said here to the permissions board and over on en-wiki. Carcharoth 12:00, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Local unblock

Hi!

I'm an editor/admin on Portuguese Wikibooks and noticed that this action inadvertently prevented the user to edit on that project, where as already mentioned here, he gives valuable contributions (both in discussions about the project and the development of the content of wikibooks - namely b:pt:Logística). I tried to undo that locally (by going to b:pt:Special:Block/Vapmachado), but I wasn't successful. Could you help me with this issue?

Thank you for your help. Best regards, Helder 16:45, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
