Requests for global rollback permissions

Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
Please also review the Global rollback policy.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting, make sure that: You have sufficient activity to meet the requirements to be allocated the global rollback flag

To make a request
Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable.
=== Global rollback for {{subst:u|{{subst:REVISIONUSER}}}} ===
{{sr-request
 |status    = <!-- don't change this line -->
 |domain    = global <!-- don't change this line -->
 |user name = {{subst:REVISIONUSER}} <!-- don't change this line unless you're nominating another user -->
}}
::''Not ending before {{subst:#time:j F Y H:i|+5 days}} UTC''

The request will be approved if consensus to do so exists after a period of consideration of no less than 5 days (with rare exceptions , no matter how obvious the result may seem). This is not a vote, and all input is welcome. Stewards will determine whether consensus exists; when doing so it is likely that the weight given to the input of those involved in cross-wiki work will be most influential.

Global rollback for Waihorace

After a month, I request it again. I am now more active on CVN (SWMT), and have about 60 cross wikis contributions on revert vandal, copyvio marking and etc. Also, at the last time I have mention that I am the sysop on zhwn & testwiki, and patroller + rollbacker on zhwp, autopatroller + rollbacker on a small wiki yuewp. I will be still active on CVN #cvn-sw channel in about 12:00 ~ 14:00 UTC and some non-busy hour. For more easy to revert vandal, I request this rights. I know that it should not be use in edit war or I may be blocked and right removed. Finally, if you have any problem on this request, feel free to ask and I will reply you as soon as possible. --Waihorace 03:44, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Question - I'm sorry, but I still see very little actual countervandalism activity. I have also never seen you active in the SWMT - discussing things with other users, commenting on these requests. Can you please provide me with some examples of reverts that span multiple languages, so both myself and everyone else viewing this request can get some sort of idea of how you do past the language barrier? Thanks. Ajraddatz (Talk) 04:34, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
    I am now on #cvn-sw. Just the time before I request, I revert on [1][2][3][4], although it just have small edit because I request a global lock account on #wikimedia-stewards and stopped the vandalism. Some of my edit is "{{Delete}}" so it may not be seen on the contribution page (It has been deleted by admin). Or may be I am only active on 12:00 ~ 14:00 for weekday and some other time on weekend so you may not see me... Finally, thank you for your question. --Waihorace 06:10, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Global IP block exempt for User:MMuzammils

Greetings, I would like to request permanent exemption from global IP blocks, for the following reasons.

  • I'm based in the United Arab Emirates, there is a telecoms duopoly here; both telecoms providers pass all Internet traffic through transparent proxies, as mandated by UAE’s telecoms Regulatory Authority (TRA). I have no other legal choice.
  • Because of the restricted Internet freedoms, I use a paid VPN service to bypass these blocks and in some cases edit Wikipedia (because my public shared IP was blocked by Wikimedia) via this VPN service, as the IP ranges blocked were too extensive.
  • My quality of edits: WikiChecker
  • Note: Unfortunately some religious or other Wikipedia articles are selectively blocked by the ISPs (government) here, and I have no choice but to use my paid VPN to get those articles. My VPN provider uses some servers which are classified as open proxies or anonymous proxies by Wikimedia. I'm pretty sure that's where I might get stuck again :-)
  • Note: Wikipedia admin User:Shell Kinney just granted me IP exemption (sans anonymous proxies) for Wikipedia and Commons projects.

I have managed to work around these blocks over the past 5 years of editing, but lately they’re getting too aggressive and have started to frustrate and deter me from making contributions. Considering my contributions and clean record over the years, I hope my request will be granted to edit with my registered account including over anonymous proxies. Thanks--MMuzammils 17:16, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Comment - Please note that this right only exempts you from global blocks - any local blocks will still apply, and you'll need to request local ipbe on those wikis. Ajraddatz (Talk) 17:39, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I see no problem with granting this. The reason is valid, and the user (with 10k global edits and a clean block log) can be trusted not to abuse the privilege for disruptive editing. Jafeluv 18:08, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
